Customer-specific product development is one of blache medical’s core strengths and a key part of what defines our company. Our team develops and manufactures customized medical instruments for international markets, with a strong focus on the U.S. and Europe. Our current development activities are primarily focused on spine surgery and orthopedics.

Each process usually begins with an idea or a concrete suggestion from clinical practice. Based on this input, our specialists develop a concept, design the instrument, and carry out the first detailed review of feasibility and possible solutions. This is followed by a prototype – either produced using 3D printing or manufactured manually – which is then tested and evaluated in a clinical environment. Based on this feedback, we continue to optimize the product until it is ready for series production. Depending on complexity and prioritization, the entire process – from the first contact to a series-ready product – can even be completed within just four to six weeks. This is a clear advantage for our customers.

Short Communication Paths, Direct Insights, High Flexibility
As a highly specialized company, blache medical relies on short decision-making paths and a high degree of flexibility. Company founder Sven Blache plays a key role in this process, personally supporting and accompanying the projects. He and members of the development team also observe surgeries live to see how the instruments are used in practice, identify potential improvements early on, and further develop the products together with the users. At the same time, regulatory requirements have increased significantly in recent years, making the approval of new instruments increasingly complex. To manage this effort efficiently while keeping the focus on product development, blache medical works with distribution partners worldwide.

From Idea to Series Production: Facts, Figures, and Continuous Development
In total, blache medical has already developed around 300 new products on behalf of customers. The company also holds several patents together with customers and offers around 20 proprietary products that are distributed worldwide. However, we do not file a patent application for every new development, as doing so involves considerable time and expense. Instead, we place strong emphasis on the continuous improvement of our own products and on application-driven innovations where the added value in everyday clinical practice is the main priority.
